Do we need speed ramps on our roads ?

Here is a thought, Do we really need speed ramps on our roads, I mean, They only slow down the emergency services making them slow down and so putting lives at risk ! Ok you may say that they are there to slow down traffic but most people who are good drivers don't drive at dangerous speeds anyway, It is only joy riders who have stolen cars and the occasional boy racer that drives in that way and the speed ramps don't slow them down anyway , They are not worried about messing up a car , So what is the point of them?  After all we have enough speed camera's to deal with speeding cars. So come on government get rid of the speed ramps as they do not work, They just make cyclist's fall off their bikes and some are so height that they take off your exhaust pipe! So I rest my case .
